Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy was supposed to be the next best thing Rockstar Games could’ve offered to its fans and customers, instead of the long-expected GTA 6 – which is reportedly stuck in development. However, instead of releasing a fully functional and playable remaster of three Grand Theft Auto classics bundled up into a single title, which was highly anticipated by the fandom, Rockstar Games apparently released a half-finished product that doesn’t measure up to the original games, despite all the technological and gameplay advancement. As a result, the game’s developers have apologized and are offering free games as compensation to disappointed fans.
To make up for the botched launch and buggy games, Rockstar Games announced the return of the classic versions of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy titles, including GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas, to its own Rockstar Games Store. These games will return in a bundle, and anyone who purchased the new remastered trilogy on the PC will automatically receive the classics for free. While this is somewhat fortunate news for PC gamers, there’s very little comfort for console owners. Ultimately, even PC owners haven’t got a good deal – we believe that all three classic titles were obtainable for less than the asking price of GTA: The Trilogy before they were pulled from sale by Rockstar Games. T^he argument could be made that purchasing GTA: The Trilogy was an effective way to overpay for 20 years-old games that probably won’t run adequately on modern gaming systems.
As reported by Kotaku, Rockstar Games has released a statement on their website, publicly apologizing for the various technical and visual issues players have documented in the recently released Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – Definitive Edition, which launched on November 11. Shortly after the release, gamers set social media ablaze, filling news threads and timelines with complaints about missing fog, broken rain, unsightly character models, glitches (some of which have plagued even the original titles), and much, much more. In addition, according to reports made by various gamers, GTA: The Trilogy is also prone to crashing, especially on Nintendo Switch, where players have reported abysmal performance and stability.

This isn’t the first time Rockstar has angered fans. There’s ben no news regarding Grand Theft Auto 6 and and other titles, like Red Dead Redemption 2, also suffer from a series of glitches and bugs that need addressing. Regardless, that hardly justifies harassment aimed towards the company staff, especially considering that most of them were allegedly working under the pressure of approaching deadlines and what Forbes has framed as a crunch workplace culture.
