Epic Games Store Confirms Final Free Games for September 2021

Every Thursday, the Epic Games Store releases a new batch of free games for users to check out, with no subscription or other fee required. Thursday, September 16 is no exception to the rule, as the Epic Games Store has released two new free games for users to check out while also confirming next week's free game offering, which will also be the last EGS free game for September 2021.
From now until September 23 at 10:00am CT, Epic Games Store users can claim Speed Brawl and Tharsis for their collections. Then from September 23 until September 30 at 10:00am CT, they can snag The Escapists. Usually the Epic Games Store gives away two free games at a time, so it's possible that The Escapists will be joined by a surprise title next week, kind of like how Nioh: The Complete Edition was a surprise EGS free game last week, though that remains to be seen. In any case, once Epic Games Store users claim these games, they are theirs to keep forever.

For those who may not be familiar with these free Epic Games Store games for September 2021, Speed Brawl is described as a 2D action racer game. Speed Brawl was originally supposed to be an EGS free game last month, but it was delayed at the last minue due to some kind of technical issue that has never been explained. Tharsis, meanwhile, is a turn-based strategy game set in space.

As for next week's free game, The Escapists is a strategy game about escaping from prison. The Escapists earned somewhat mixed reviews at the time of its original release in 2015, but it's still managed to develop a dedicated following nevertheless. It appears to be the lone free Epic Games Store game for next week at this time, but again, it's always possible that the Epic Games Store has some kind of surprise up its sleeve.

Epic Games Store mystery games are nothing new, as the launcher has occasionally given away a surprise game like it did with Nioh: The Complete Edition, and it's also done extended mystery game promotions as well. These Epic Games Store mystery game promotions have been done to generate interest in the store's special sales events as well as to countdown to the holidays.

While the Epic Games Store remains controversial in the gaming industry, there's no denying that it's been making strides to earn its spot in the PC gaming space. Epic Games Store has been adding new features and giving away a ton of free games to win over new users, and it seems like it's not going to move away from that strategy anytime soon.
